We Transformed Paving Stones

In this project led by Nurbanu Kılıçer, ordinary street stones went on a colourful and meaningful journey. The starting point of the project was the idea that everyone could create a face or mask fiction by painting the street stones with their own imagination.

Together with the participants, we collected stones from a nearby street. Each stone was coloured with crayons and turned into a work of art with personal stories. Placing the coloured stones back on the street was the most striking part of this project. This transformation is not only a visual change; it also carries a message that reminds us that even the roads that people pass through in their daily lives without realising it can be transformed.

With this project, the participants were not only involved in the creative process but also experienced the happiness of leaving their own traces on the streets. The path formed by the coloured stones not only offered physical beauty, but also emphasised the importance of social cohesion and co-production.
